Concealer is one of the most important make-up essentials as it camouflages pigmentation, blemishes, dark circles, dark spots, scars, etc and gives a flawless look. They are available in liquid formulations or as roll-on sticks or creams.
Selecting the right concealer can be a daunting task as it is really difficult to find the right shade for different requirements. For example, to conceal dark circles, you would need a concealer that is one or two shades lighter than your skin tone so that the dark areas are neutralized. However, for scars that are not dark, you would need a concealer that would match your complexion. Therefore, you would need multiple concealers with varied shades to cater to your needs.
So, to put an end to these woes, here’s a method for making DIY concealer at home to suit our needs. Read on to know how.
Take one teaspoonful of any moisturizer of your choice in a bowl. Make sure the moisturizer is neither too thick nor too runny.
Add half teaspoonful of compact powder of your choice. The compact powder should be of the same shade as your skin tone.
Finally, add one teaspoonful of any liquid foundation that matches your complexion.
Blend all these ingredients well with a spatula till a homogenous consistency is attained.
Transfer the resultant mixture into a clean and dry container.
Voila! Our DIY concealer is ready.
Do a patch test on your problematic areas and see if it works.
Note: If the concealer appears too dark, add some moisturizer to lighten it and if it appears too light, add some foundation to neutralize the lightness as per your requirement.
If the concealer turns out very runny, throw in some more compact powder and blend it well till the needed consistency is attained.
How to apply?
After moisturizing and priming your face, dab concealer on the problematic areas and then go over with the foundation.
However, you may also apply foundation first and then apply concealer, whichever suits you well.
You may apply it using your fingers or a brush.
Storage: You may store it in accordance with the shelf life of the ingredients used that is the moisturizer, foundation and compact powder.
